No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
