Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
